About this place
Faced with skewers taking on the heat and fragrance of hot charcoal, even the wait while they roast feels like part of the feast. At Denzō in Nippori, a natural starting point is the tsukune meatball skewer, notable for its pillowy, tender texture. Beyond the house sweet soy tare and a classic tsukimi version accompanied by egg yolk, seasoning options extend to Himalayan rock salt, where mellow salinity accents the meat's natural sweetness, or the crisp prickle of yuzukosho citrus pepper. Moist sasami chicken tenders are also offered with condiments such as wasabi or pickled plum and shiso herb.
The skewer selection goes beyond standard cuts, featuring limited-quantity items such as shiroleba (white liver), hatsuhimo (chicken heart string), and Satsuma young gamecock skewers that showcase diverse poultry cuts and breeds. A wide array of dishes to accompany drinks includes binchotan-seared specialties like shiroleba green onion salt sear and Satsuma gamecock sear, along with the house signature toriwasa and simmered chicken giblets. The drinks list ranges from draft beer and highballs to assorted shochu and whiskies like Yamazaki and Hakushu. To finish, comforting rice dishes such as chicken soup ochazuke, jidori rice porridge, and oyakodon are readily available.
Situated near Nippori Station, the premises feature separate smoking and non-smoking sections partitioned to the left and right. Dinner runs from 17:15, with seat reservations accepted—making it well suited for an evening meal after work or an informal gathering with drinks around the table.
